Reach Your Hydration Goals in Addition to Drinking Water
Hydration goals are usually reached by drinking optimal amounts of water. And, while these suggestions can help substitute you a few of daily glasses, you still need to drink water every day to meet your body’s requirements and hydration goals. However, by switching things up and adding some variety, you’ll find that staying hydrated is much easier than if you only relied on water. If you’re ready to ditch dehydration, here are 5 ways to reach your hydration goals in addition to drinking water.
Reach your hydration goals by adding more fruits and vegetables
Hydration through fruits is valid because fruits are composed of anywhere between 80% to 96% water. This means that snacking on them throughout the day is one of the best ways to stay hydrated when you’re not drinking water. If you are drinking water, you can also infuse fruit into your water to add a pop of flavor and some beneficial vitamins and minerals. Fruits and vegetables offer a high water content while little to no calories and sugars. So, you can snack without worrying about overdoing it. Nevertheless, as said, you could infuse your water to make it taste better if you don't fancy the taste of water alone or don't want to chew on stuff. :)
Drink milk
According to a 2016 study, milk is actually one of the best drinks you can have, whether it’s milk from a cow or from a coconut. The average person doesn’t sweat enough to lose a large amount of sodium and electrolytes, and, even after a high-energy workout session, you’ll find that a glass of milk works just as well - if not better - than a sports drink in rehydrating.
Reach your hydration goals by drinking iced coffee
Coffee has been popular for centuries, and for good reason. While most caffeine drinks can cause dehydration, coffee doesn’t result in any fluid loss. It also offers many other benefits such as increased energy and better bowel function. Your average coffee is composed of 98% water, and when you get an iced coffee, the ice adds even more water. Just be careful not to overdo it, as too much coffee also has some less than pleasant side effects such as headaches and difficulty falling asleep.
Did you know you can also make coffee based infusions that taste deliciously?
Eat broth-based soup
Have you ever wondered why chicken soup is great when you’re sick? While this nostalgic meal offers warmth that’s gentle on the stomach, it also has a high water content with an abundance of sodium. Soups like vegetable soup also combine the hydrating qualities of vegetables for an even stronger effect. And if it’s summer, you don’t have to give up soup! There are plenty of inexpensive cold soup recipes for you to make at home to try.
Hydration goals reached by drinking juice
While many juices sold today have a high amount of sugar, it doesn’t hurt to have the occasional glass. Or you could try a sugar-free, all-natural juice. Whichever way you go, juice is another great way to get hydrated each and every day without drinking only eight glasses of water. Cranberry juice, orange juice, and apple juice are extremely popular. But, you can also try different flavors. If there’s a particular combination you’re wanting to try, you can also learn how to make your own juice at home. Again, you could also try to infuse your water with fruits to make it taste better and to help you reach your hydration goals easily.
