How to Squeeze More Exercise into Your Busy Schedule

  • Invest in a pedometer or fitness tracker. Doing so allows you to see how many steps you’ve taken throughout the day. Having a number in mind that you want to reach allows you to take a few extra seconds each day to smash your goal. A standard pedometer will do the trick, but a fitness tracker is easier to wear on your wrist while you’re out and about.
  • Make housecleaning part of your exercise routine. Cleaning up your space has its advantages. It allows you to get a good workout in as well as wake up to a clean house. A rigorous housecleaning session burns calories and helps you stay on top of clutter.
  • Purchase an exercise bike and ride while you watch TV. When you have downtime that doesn’t include going to the gym, combine two activities at once for the best results. Ride your new exercise bike while watching TV. Make it a promise not to get off the bike until after the program has finished.
  • Leave your car parked while you walk to do the errands you need to do. Find a central location to park. Then walk to wherever it is that you want to go. You’ll be able to get a lot more steps in that way and still accomplish everything you set out to do.
  • Take the stairs. Skip the elevator and take the stairs. You’ll work your muscles that way. While strengthening your calves, thighs, and glutes, you’ll also be burning calories. The best part is that you’ll also have the stairwell to yourself in most cases. 

Exercise is imperative for good health. It’s among the greatest stress-busting tools you have for your body and mind. It allows you space to work out your frustrations and gives you better clarity thanks to the increase in endorphins it produces. No matter how busy you feel like your day is, you can always sneak in a few minutes of exercise, as illustrated above. Your willingness to change your habits is the pathway to wellness.
